About Rachel
Artist Bio:
Rachel Finch Driscoll is an artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She lives near the shores of Lake Michigan with her husband and their French Bulldog, Biscuits. After a rewarding career as an Interior Designer, she turned painting and illustration into her main practice. Every year she spends a significant amount of time in the Adirondack Mountains of New York where her family has roots. Much of her influence comes from time spent in nature and on the water.
Artist Statement:
As an artist I strive to capture the nostalgia of places and subjects as a way to preserve the feeling of a moment and collect it as a souvenir. Whether it be soaking in what feels like the most perfect day at the beach with family, or delighting in the imagined secret lives of forest animals crossing my path on a run, enjoyment of nature inspires me on a daily basis. The intrinsic fluidity of watercolor allows me to explore color, light, and movement as I feel it in the moment, and illustration evokes whimsy in the otherwise ordinary object.
